What is a wheel for picking letters?

A Letter Picker Wheel, which is also known as a random letter spinner or alphabet wheel, is an online tool that uses an animated spinning wheel to pick a letter at random from A to Z or any other set of letters you choose.

Spinning the wheel makes it more exciting to pick a letter. Instead of drawing from a bag or using a random letter generator. Everyone who is in the game sees the same thing at the same time.

StepWhat to do
1The wheel already has all 26 letters from A to Z on it.
2Edit the letter set. Remove any letters, add more, or move letters around as needed.
3Click Spin and see what letter it lands on.
4It is equally likely that any letter will be chosen. Pure randomness, shown in a picture.

Why not just pick any random letter instead of using a random letter spinner?

When you pick a random letter by yourself the letter you pick is biassed by default. You unknowingly pick letters you come across mostly like your name initials. So, when you spin the random letter wheel you take the bias out completely.

It also makes the choice clear. Students, players, or participants who watch the wheel spin to a letter accept the result without question.

Totally random—no mental bias
Clear and visible for groups
Remove the used letter.
Use Custom groups of letters, like vowels, consonants, or whole alphabet
Fun for games and contests
Works on tablets, phones, and computers
